President Biden spoke on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s newly proposed rule to lower credit card late fees during a meeting with his Competition Council at the White House. He said the new rule would cut late fees from $31 on average to $8. He also called on Congress to pass the Junk Free Protection Act, that would eliminate additional fees consumers have incurred from various industries, including service fees on tickets purchased through Ticketmaster and the additional fees some airlines charge passengers for picking their own seats. close
