Deputy Energy Secretary David Turk testified on the implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), the chair of the committee, was critical of the Biden administration’s energy policies throughout the hearing. He announced he was introducing new legislation with Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) to ensure gas stoves are not banned, criticized the administration for trying to curb the use of coal and other fossil fuels, and voiced concerns about a battery manufacturer called Microvast--which has facilities in China--receiving grant funds from the IIJA. close
