White House Gender Policy Council Director Jennifer Klein highlighted the 30th anniversary of the Family and Medical Leave Act and discussed the Biden administration’s support for women’s reproductive health. Director Klein joined White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre at the start of the daily briefing. Topics covered during the briefing included the president’s upcoming State of the Union Address, police reform, Ukraine aid and military assistance, and the ousting of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) from the House Foreign Affairs Committee, which the press secretary called a “political stunt.” Ms. Jean-Pierre also took questions on the president’s meeting with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on the debt ceiling and the budget, referring to the meeting as “a good discussion, an honest discussion.” close
