John Sullivan, the former U.S. ambassador to Russia for the Trump and Biden administrations, joined foreign policy experts and academics to discuss the first year of the Russia-Ukraine War during a conversation hosted by Wilson Center in Washington, D.C. Among the topics discussed were Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent national address regarding the war in Ukraine, the reasons behind Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the consequences of the war. They touched on several topics, including holding Russia accountable for war crimes, U.S. and NATO military strategy, prospects of negotiating with Russia, and Vladimir Putin’s recent suspension of the New START nuclear arms control treaty. close
