In a briefing with reporters, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre defended the federal response to the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. She reiterated President Biden’s commitment to providing federal resources for as long as took to clean up the hazardous chemicals leaked and holding Norfolk Southern, the train’s operator accountable. On the international front, Ms. Jean-Pierre announced the president would be discussing with fellow G-7 leaders new sanctions against Russia in response to its invasion of Ukraine.
