In an 81-14 vote, the Senate approved a House-passed resolution repealing a District of Columbia law reducing penalties for certain crimes, including carjackings, burglaries, and robberies. Lawmakers also confirmed the nomination of Patrice Kunesh to be commissioner of the Department of Health and Human Service’s Administration of Native Americans, and voted to limit debate on Daniel Werfel’s nomination to be commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service. close
