The briefing occurred amid an upcoming summer 2023 deadline to avoid default on the debt. The speaker was asked about giving footage to Fox News Host Tucker Carlson that related to the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol, and Mr. Tucker’s editorialization of the event in portraying the people at the attack as peaceful.
