Russian military analyst Michael Kofman joined the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace for a virtual discussion on the current state of the war in Ukraine. He discussed his visit to the battlefield and what he saw versus media coverage of the war. He also discussed Russia’s military offensive, the potential for Ukraine to stage an offensive using western artillery, the acute risk of nuclear escalation, and what the future of the Ukraine-Russia war could entail. When addressing military needs in Ukraine, he prioritized artillery ammunition and replacement of utility barrels, air defense ammunition and air defense systems, armored fighting vehicles for infantry fighting and armored personnel carriers over tanks. close
