The Senate Aging Committee held a hearing to examine guardianships ordered by a court, like the one once imposed on pop singer Britney Spears. According to reports, there were approximately 1.3 million adult guardianships in the United States with an estimated $50 billion in assets. During the hearing, witnesses talked about the negative impact of these agreements. Among them was a Washington, D.C. resident with cerebral palsy who was once under a court-ordered guardianship and faced a long legal battle to dissolve the agreement. close
