White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre briefed reporters and responded to questions on several issues, including proposed regulations to prevent U.S. bank failures. She called Russia’s arrest of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich “ridiculous” and condemned the incident in the “strongest terms.” Mr. Gershkovich was detained by Russia on suspicion of espionage. The press secretary also criticized Republicans for not having a plan to mitigate mass shootings and lamented the death of nine U.S. Army soldiers in a Black Hawk training crash. close
