Scholars discussed the rise of China’s political economy and economic growth during the 15th annual Conference on China' Economic Development and U.S.-China Economic Relations hosted by George Washington University. Several topics were discussed, including the state of U.S.-China relations, trade imbalances, challenges to China’s continued growth, and the role of financial markets in China’s economy. They also addressed the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping, highlighting the similarities and differences in leadership style to the country’s former leader President Mao Zedong. close
