Attorney General Merrick Garland announced enforcement actions taken against international drug traffickers, during a press conference at the Justice Department. These actions targeted several entities, including two chemical companies in China and the Mexican-based Sinaloa Cartel, which is responsible for the manufacturing and trafficking of a majority of the illegal fentanyl in the United States. The attorney general announced charges against more than a dozen members of the cartel, including the sons of their former leader, EL Chapo. Attorney General Garland was joined by several members of federal law enforcement, including Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco and DEA Administrator Anne Milgram. close
