“Our nations' relationship has been a great success story--an alliance formed in war, and it has flourished in peace,” said President Biden during a joint news conference with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol from the White House Rose Garden. He went on to say, “our alliance is about building a better future for all of our people.” Both leaders addressed investments in manufacturing and technology, peace and security in the Indo-Pacific region, and support for the people of Ukraine. When asked about negotiating with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) over the debt limit, President Biden said he would meet with the speaker, but not on “whether or not debt limit gets extended,” calling a refusal to extend the debt limit an “absolute crime.” close
