Speaker McCarthy was joined by a bipartisan group of lawmakers, including former House Democratic Leader Steny Hoyer (MD). The speaker and Representative Hoyer answered several questions on U.S.-Israeli relations, debt negotiations, and Israel’s government. To a Russian reporter, Speaker McCarthy said: “I vote for aid to Ukraine ... I do not support what your country has done to Ukraine.” Speaker McCarthy’s address to the Knesset was the first time a speaker had done so in 25 years. Representative Hoyer called it an “excellent speech.”
