“America is not a deadbeat nation. We pay our bills,” said President Biden. The president’s remarks on the debt ceiling followed a meeting with congressional leaders at the White House. President Biden agreed with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) remarks that default is not an option and shared that he would continue to meet with the congressional leaders. The president took multiple questions from reporters including one on invoking the 14th Amendment to avoid defaulting on the debt as well as one on the southern border. close
