“Is there a different standard for a Democrat secretary of state versus a former Republican president?” asked Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) during remarks at the North Carolina Republican convention in Greensboro. While addressing the “weaponization of government,” the governor seemed to allude to former President Trump’s handling of classified documents in a comparison to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email scandal. Gov. DeSantis also touched on his record as governor, crime and public safety, and education, and he criticized “woke” ideology. close
