Jackson Women’s Health Organization that overturned Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision that established a precedent for national abortion rights. Upon first hearing of the news, the vice president said she thought of her daughter and her other young female relatives, saying, “I couldn’t help but think that their generation would have fewer rights than my generation or my mother’s generation.” She also called on Congress to codify abortion rights into federal law.
