Legal professionals and scholars testified on the government’s use of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance. They addressed Section 702 of FISA, its potential reauthorization, and alleged abuses of the FBI by conducting unlawful surveillance on U.S. citizens. Other topics addressed included reforms needed to be made to Section 702, what to do if it sunsets, and how best to protect civil liberties and constitutional rights of U.S. citizens. close
