Council of Economic Advisers Chair on President Biden's Economic Agenda

Jared Bernstein, chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, joined The Washington Post for a virtual discussion on President Biden’s economic agenda, described as “Bidenomics” by the administration. Chair Bernstein lauded the president’s economic performance, citing data of reduced inflation and a low unemployment rate. He also said that “Bidenomics” will be remembered by a, “transformational shift in domestic production of clean energy products, of electric vehicles, of batteries,” which he attributed to public-private investments. Also, when asked by The Washington Post’s Heather Long if The American Rescue Plan--the administration’s economic stimulus initiative--contributed to inflation, Mr. Bernstein argued it did not, saying it set the stage for a strong economy and inflation was caused by high demand and constrained supply. close
