They reiterated support of the U.S. and its allies for Ukraine in its military effort to expel Russian forces, and said there were increasing signs that Russian forces were faltering under a Ukrainian counteroffensive. The two leaders also took questions from reporters, including on a soldier who reportedly crossed into North Korea, and on Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), who continued to hold Defense Department nominations pending before the Senate because of the Pentagon’s policy guaranteeing travel for women servicemembers who need to access abortion care in states away from their home bases.
