Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chair Jessica Rosenworcel (D) sat down for a conversation on 5G Spectrum and its implication on national security during an event hosted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C. She spoke on the importance of the U.S. leading the world in the development of 5G and how it will lend to technological innovation. She touched on several topics, including spectrum-related national security challenges posed by China, the need for the FCC to have an auction authority, and infrastructure investment. Then, telecommunications industry executives, including from AT&T and Verizon, discussed the importance of U.S. dominance in the race to 5G, a balance between commercial and national security uses of spectrum, and supply chain concerns with technology manufacturers, such as Hauwei in China. close
