Republican presidential candidate and former Vice President Mike Pence spoke at the Des Moines Register soapbox during the Iowa State Fair held in Des Moines. Following his remarks, he responded to questions from attendees, including one who asked, “Why did you commit treason on January 6?” The question cannot be heard on the video but was followed by boos from some members of the audience. The former vice president responded by saying “People deserve to know that on that day, the former president asked me to choose him over my oath to the Constitution. I chose the Constitution, and I always will.” close
