Republican presidential hopefuls Gov. Doug Burgum (ND), Gov. Ron DeSantis (FL), Larry Elder, Nikki Haley, Asa Hutchinson, Perry Johnson, and Vivek Ramaswamy made their pitch to voters at a fundraising dinner hosted by Iowa Rep. Ashley Hinson (R) in Cedar Rapids. Each candidate gave their reasons for running and what they’d hope to accomplish in the White House. They addressed topics including border security, the opioids epidemic, the economy and jobs and foreign policy. Iowa is the first state in the nation to head to the polls for the presidential nominating process. Iowa caucuses are set for January 15, 2024. close
