President Biden warned against a government shutdown and made his case for a second term in remarks at the Phoenix Awards Dinner, hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation in Washington, D.C. He directly addressed questions of whether he was too old to run for office again, saying, “Well I get it, believe me. I know better than anyone. But there’s something else I know: When I came to office, this nation was flat on its back. I knew what to do.” Vice President Harris also delivered remarks at the event, which recognized Black accomplishments in politics and culture. close
