After attending a Republican meeting on the government funding deadline, Rep. Steve Womack (R-AR) said House Republicans need to be “practical,” explaining that Republicans have too slim of a majority and cannot get everything they want in negotiations with each other. When asked by a reporter about a possible bipartisan solution, he said Republicans were not ready to give up on their funding goals. He said GOP ideas were “all over the place” at the moment and was not confident that a shutdown could be avoided. The deadline to fund the government expires at 12:01am on Sunday. close
