Eight Republicans and all Democrats voted in favor of the motion. Those eight Republicans were Representatives Biggs (AZ), Buck (CO), Burchett (TN), Crane (AZ), Gaetz (FL), Good (VA), Mace (SC), and Rosendale (MT). Before the vote to remove Representative McCarthy, lawmakers first voted on a motion to table his removal, which failed 208-218. Lawmakers also approved the debate rules for two appropriations measures. Following the vote to oust the speaker, the House recessed subject to the call of the chair.
