Prime Minister John Major discussed an initiative to end the conflict in Northern Ireland. This agreement was announced by himself and Irish Prime Minister Albert Reynolds last week in London. It would grant a seat at the bargaining table to the Irish Republican Army within three months if it renounces violence. The conflict stems from a question of who should control the six counties of Ulster in Northern Ireland. close
