Secretary of Education Richard Riley and Deputy Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy William Galston today briefed the media on the Goals 2000 bill. The end result of Goals 2000 is to raise American education standards. The bill passed the House last fall with a “strong” bipartisan vote and is now being considered by the full Senate. Media questions focused on how Goals 2000 will help to improve individual schools and how the program will be financed. close
