During the Habitat For Humanity dedication in Washington, D.C., President Clinton addressed the need to rebuild the American community. The President indicated that the Department of Housing and Urban Development works directly with Habitat affiliates nationwide to get HUD foreclosed properties into the hands of low-income buyers. HUD also helps local governments to make more use of the HOME program, which provides block grants for affordable housing, and puts the Federal Housing Administration back into the business of helping individuals with their first loans. close
