U.S. and Soviet generals recount events surrounding the Cuban missile crisis of 1962. In the next hour and a half General Anatoli Gribkov, the former chief of staff for the Warsaw Pact, discussed the Soviet role in the crisis. Admiral William Smith, who formerly served as chief of staff of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers in Europe discussed the U.S. role in the incident. He was also deputy commander in chief of the U.S. European Command. This forum was organized by the Woodrow Wilson Center. General Gribkov spoke through a translator. close
