Two news conferences feature the reaction of congressmen to the U.S. downing of two Libyan fighter planes. Representative Les Asipin (D-WI) spoke to reporters from the lobby of the Rayburn House Office Building. Senator John Heinz (R-PA) made his remarks from the Senate Press Gallery in the U.S. Capitol. Both men indicated that the downing of the Libyan jets came after they acted aggressively toward American ships and planes legally operating in the area. close
