At the annual Radio-Television Correspondents Association dinner, President Bill Clinton congratulated radio and television correspondents on 50 years of TV and radio coverage of national politics. The president spoke on the history of radio and TV political coverage, its importance in the future, and on his relationship with the media. The president made several jokes concerning his dealings with the media. Following the president’s address, humorist Garrison Keillor spoke. In his comedic remarks, he indicated his availability for the Supreme Court vacancy and that he had difficulty coming to grips with a president the same age as he. C-SPAN’s Brian Lockman, RCTA outgoing chair, also received acknowledgement and gave the event’s opening remarks. close
