Addressing the media from the White House Rose Garden, President Bill Clinton indicated that he met with his National Security Team to discuss options for regaining momentum for a peaceful settlement in Bosnia. The President stated that President Boris Yeltsin issued a statement calling on the Serbs to honor their commitments to the Russians to withdraw from Gorazde, to allow U.N. personnel back in Gorazde, and to resume the negotiations toward a peaceful settlement. Media questions focused on the President’s view on a possible summit of all the major powers to discuss the situation in Bosnia and on the President’s reaction to Boutros-Ghali’s proposal to expand air strikes to the other five safe areas in Bosnia. close
