Vice President Gore and Secretary Pena briefed the press on the nations air traffic control system. Vice president Gore announced a proposal to set up a government run corporation to operate the system that manages the movements of the nations airline flights. The proposal would separate the air traffic control system from the Federal Aviation Administration. The nations air traffic control system manages the movements of some 19,000 airline flights each day. The vice president’s proposal would create a government run corporation to operate the system. Currently government corporations run the postal service, Amtrack, and the Tennessee Valley Authority. close
