Following a meeting with President Jimmy Carter at the Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia, President Bill Clinton entertained reporters by taking a few questions. Touching first on Haiti, the president stated that he was in agreement with an earlier statement made by President Carter. President Clinton also announced that the United States would double the amount of aid it was scheduled to give to South Africa. In regards to President Clinton’s awaited announcement of a Supreme Court nominee a member of the press asked if he would appoint someone he had not interviewed himself. close
