In this session of the U.S. House of Representatives, the House voted on a bill designed to ensure that residents in flood-prone areas have flood insurance. Under the bill, mortgage lenders must require that borrowers in flood-prone areas purchase flood insurance. This bill provides matching grants for states, communities and individuals to implement flood control activities. The bill requires FEMA to study effects of costal erosion on the flood insurance program. The vote tally on H R 3101, Yea 335 Nay 60.
