During a women’s health care event on the White House South Lawn this morning, President Clinton explained that the health reform plan will cover mammograms, pregnancies, well-baby visits, prescription drugs, and other conditions affecting women. The President cited recent improvements in medical research targeted to women, i.e., the creation of an office of research on women’s health at the National Institute of Health, increased funding for breast cancer research, and the development of a national action plan on breast cancer. The President stressed the need to guarantee comprehensive benefits for all Americans, including preventive care, and to ensure choice of doctors and health care plans. close
