The U.S. House of Representatives reconvened and continued their legislative business. They took up debate on the Tax Simplification and Technical Corrections: H.R. 3419. This bill would simplify certain provisions of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. They also debated the Independent Social Security Administration: H.R. 4277. This bill would establish the Social Security Administration as an independent agency. The House also designated lands within Montana and California for a different use, primarily logging, and provided rules for that use. Following the regular business of the day the House opened the floor to members for the Special Orders period, allowing members to speak for up to an hour on any topic. The House then adjourned until 10:30 am the following day. close
