Following a short break, the Ways and Means Committee discussed the markup for the health care reform plan. REP. Jim McDermott, D-Washington spoke about his single-payer plan and Representative Thomas discussed the minority plan which would eliminate mandates on small businesses. A large number of photographers were present due to continued speculation concerning the future of Ways and Means Chairman Dan Rostenkowski, D-Illinois. Representative Rostenkowski will likely be indicted for his role in the House Post Office scandal three years ago. close
