The National Council of Senior Citizens held a news conference to

discuss direct mail aimed at older Americans. The council charges

that several groups are sending out so-called “fright mail”

concerning President Clinton’s health reform plan. Members of the

council were joined by the National Council of Aging and the

American Association of Retired Persons as well as Arkansas Senator

David Pryor (Democrat) and Representative Andrew Jacobs (D-Indiana) at this news conference.

The National Council of Senior Citizens was originally founded to

advocate Medicare. The group has 5 million members in 5,000 senior

citizens clubs across the country. close
