In his radio address to the nation, President Clinton spoke on the heroism of American soldiers during the D-Day campaign, in Somalia, and elsewhere. The President cited the mission of the United States “in this age of increasing interdependence.” This mission is: to provide for our own security--fighting terrorism, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and conventional threats; and to help other nations achieve economic reforms, prosperity, and democracy. close
