The members of the Senate Banking Committee heard testimony from several administration and Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC) employees concerning the Whitewater affair and the RTC’s handling of the investigation. The witnesses spoke about Department of the Treasury Assistant Secretary Roger Altman’s decision to recuse himself from the investigation and the purpose behind that recusal. Jean Hanson, general counsel for the Department of Treasury offered testimony to the committee regarding the connections between the Department of Treasury and Madison Guaranty the savings and loan which financed the Whitewater development project. close
