This was a forum on the political and economic future of Africa. Eight African journalists gave their perspectives on the causes for the turmoil in Rwanda and prospects for democracy, especially freedom of the press, throughout the continent. The event was hosted by Freedom House, a Washington-based organization that described itself as devoted to the strengthening of free societies. The panelists also took questions from the audience of press and foreign affairs officials. close
