The Senate Environment and Public Works Subcommittee hearing focused on radiation treatments of civilians and military personnel. Members heard testimony on radium treatments used on ear ailments of submarine personnel, aviators and children from patients, doctors, and representatives of the Defense Department and the Department of Veterans Affairs. The treatment was originally undertaken in the 1920's and continued through the 1970's. close
