President Clinton addressed the nation on the situation in Haiti. Following an eleven-hour session Sunday between Lt. General Cedaras and members of the U.S. delegation, the U.S. sent military forces to occupy Haiti and to attempt to quell violence there. The plan to invade Haiti and remove general Cedras by force was averted at the last moment. close
