Treasury Secretary Lloyd Bentsen briefed reporters on the Community Development Bill, which President Clinton had signed earlier that day. Originally President Clinton had asked for about one billion dollars to create about one hundred new community development banks to aid depressed inner city areas. Congress approved about one hundred twenty five million for Fiscal Year 1995. Treasury Under-Secretary Frank Neuman also answered questions from reporters after Secretary Lloyd’s opening remarks. close
