Mr. Rubin discussed the U.S. economy. Economic indicators show that the economy is moving at a robust rate. Unemployment and inflation rates remain low compared to our European allies. However, the value of the dollar has fallen against the Japanese Yen, to the lowest since World War II. The low dollar makes imports more expensive and exports cheaper therefore increasing the trade deficit.
