President Clinton spoke to students and faculty of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service to celebrate its 75th anniversary. He talked about a Professor Quigley, who had influenced him greatly during his studies at Georgetown. He then focused on the idea of national and local consensus between citizens and government to solve the many problems facing the United States, and the apparent rejection of his ideas by the recent midterm election results. Lastly, he also emphasized the need for continuing engagement in the world community, specifically congressional ratification of the latest round of GATT agreements. close
