Attorneys Jay Alan Sekulow, of the American Center for Law and Justice, and Oliver Thomas, of the National Council of Churches, discussed the issue of prayer in schools. Representative Ernest Istook (R-OK) joined the program by phone call. Speaker-designate of the U.S. House Newt Gingrich proposed bringing a vote on the constitutional amendment to allow prayer in public schools. Neither of the attorneys on the program spoke in favor of such an amendment, but the congressman did. C-SPAN’s Lew Ketcham moderated the conversation which included calls from viewers. close
