President Clinton, Senate Minority Leader Bob Dole (R-KS), Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell (D-ME), and House Speaker Tom Foley (D-WA) spoke with reporters about the passage of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). President Clinton commended Senators Mitchell and Dole and members of the Senate for their bipartisan victory on GATT. The president said the victory was “the boost we need to keep moving forward toward the 21st century to create more high-wage jobs for the American people.” close
